Growing up in rural North Devon is where Alex's love and passion for horticulture began. Qualifying with distinction at Bicton College (level 3 diploma in horticulture) Alex's aim has always been to provide the very best in horticulture.
Coming from the Westcountry, "proper job" is a regular phrase that is used by locals to express pleasure or to describe a job well done or in recognition of a job to be done - so for Alex the business name could not be simpler!

He spent several years working at 2 of the prestigious RHS gardens (Rosemoor and Wisley) as one of their horticulturists where he continued to develop his plant knowledge and horticultural skills - learning what it takes to manage large public gardens to smaller private ones to very high standards before finally setting up business in 2018 where he is now able to bring all of that experience into your gardens! After recently moving to Hove last year (2024), he is ready to show East and West Sussex what a proper horticulturist can do.
